This Sunday Gospel is all about vision!
What do you see right now? A world infected with a virus - the graphic of that world map showing with red spots where the coronavirus is spreading?
Wouldn’t it be great if the Good News of the Gospel was spreading as fast as this virus?
We as believers must follow and take precautions but we must ask… What does God want us to see right now?
This Sunday’s Gospel is not a coincidence. Even though we can’t hear it proclaimed at Mass this Sunday, let’s make an effort to study it with all our mind, heart, and soul!
During the time of Jesus, if someone was born with a physical challenge like blindness… It was a sign that they sinned - or someone sinned! Adam and Eve’s sin is the birth defect that we all inherited… the disease of original sin!
Jesus comes to change things, and He is the truth. He tells the disciples,
“Neither he nor his parents sinned; It is so that the works of God might be made visible through him.”
Right now do we believe that God is in control and that there is something He wants to show us during this pandemic? We need spiritual EYE SIGHT to see God in this mess!
Jesus is the WAY and the TRUTH and THE LIFE - He says here in this scripture that HE is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
He makes clay with His very own saliva - just like Adam, the first man, was made from clay - And Jesus puts the clay on the man’s eyes and then tells him,
“'Go wash in the pool of Siloam' - which means SENT.”
The man later tells everyone, “He put clay on my eyes, and I washed, and now I can see.”
Is God calling for us to repent? - to turn back from the original sin we inherited from Adam? If we are baptized Christians then we’ve been washed clean, but are inclined to sin - so we go to confession or pray a prayer of repentance…
Is God calling us to WASH? We’ve got to come clean with Jesus! He washes us with the WORD of God!
Jesus is the WORD - Is God calling especially we who are Catholic - with no public Mass, to grow closer to Him in His Word - to study the bible?
Is God calling us to GO? How do we GO - to be SENT? When we aren’t supposed to leave our houses?
We need the Holy Spirit more than ever - He is the ultimate creative One! He will show us how we can connect with others in this time of need - He will give us His vision as to what God is calling for in this time of crisis... To spread the Love and LIFE of the Gospel!
Spread words of hope, cheer, and help to those who are in need. God’s word!
I think about the the women in need right now at the Women’s Center.
You can keep praying for them and all the women who want abortions because of the virus threat!
The numbers are rising... We are still answering their calls and meeting them with love and mercy and truth!
When the women come to the centers they get their vision back - they see it is a baby - a life!
Now we are called to be more creative than ever - to reach women who feel they have no choice now but abortion… To use technology and other means to reach women in ways that we never thought would be possible!
Let’s pray that God opens our eyes to see Him during this crisis... To know with our eyes of faith that He is a good father and we are all His children!

Holy Mother, with the help of your grace (and a lot of clorox), end the spread of this virus and heal our land! Pray for us!
