“It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard."
I think we’re all still unpacking what we saw in the movie Unplanned (if you haven’t seen it yet, see it!)
It’s the story about Abby Johnson, a former abortion clinic employee, who witnessed firsthand the horror of an abortion procedure and went from working as an executive for an abortion clinic, to speaking out against abortion.
Not only that, but she started an organization - And Then There Were None - which ministers and supports former abortionists to get out of the business of death.
She helps those who were led to see the horror of abortion and to choose the beauty of life instead!
Today, we see in the first reading the witness of Peter and John, who stood before the elders proclaiming the Risen Lord. They preached a message of life in the face of persecution and death. They said:
"Whether it is right in the sight of God
for us to obey you rather than God, you be the judges.
It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard."
I can’t help but think of all the courageous women and men who have seen the brutality of abortion and turned aside from that path, embracing the mercy of God and, like the apostles, came to preach the beauty of life.
They are true heroes, and we need to encourage them and support them with our prayers.
Many of them still need healing and to believe that they are truly forgiven.
For Abby Johnson and those like her, it was impossible for her not to speak about what she has seen and heard!
This one goes out to all the courageous and heroic former abortionists and former abortion clinic employees - you are truly apostles for life and your testimonies can help heal our country and the world.
May God bless you all! He is Risen!
